John & Megan

I know, I have a post about Megan & Josh, but our friends Megan & John got married on Saturday as well. It was a day of Megans! It really worked out quite well. Nathan was planning on attending the wedding of our friends Bill & Tausha in Sparta that day, so Claudine (who shot our wedding) came up from Atlanta to second shoot Megan & Josh’s wedding. Nathan went to Crossville to spend the night with his brother and together they planned to drive to Sparta. As Claudine and I pulled off the highway into Crossville, Nathan called to let me know that John had just let him know that he and Megan were thinking of getting married that afternoon. Well, luckily, I had all of the gear with me and Nathan was in Crossville too, so I was able to leave his equipment at the church while Claudine & I went to photograph the wedding party at Megan’s mom’s house. Nathan grabbed his stuff and booked it back to Knoxville which usually would be nerve-wracking for me, but because Claudine has all of her own gear, including back up, I kept my regular back up camera and all was well on my end in terms of emergency gear (which usually just stays in the bag as a safety blanket).

Anyway, Nathan did a fantastic job shooting his first ever wedding on his own. Claudine and I had a great time in Crossville, and we all reconvened at home that evening, tired but accomplished. And to make it all clear how perfect this was:

If we had not made plans for Claudine to shoot with me, Nathan would have been my second shooter and couldn’t have shot John & Megan’s wedding (thanks Bill & Tausha. Sorry Nathan couldn’t make it!)

If Nathan had not been planning on going to Bill & Tausha’s wedding and had not decided to spend Friday night with Aaron in Crossville, I would have been an hour and a half away with all of the gear (3 hours round trip). Nathan would not have made it to John & Megan’s wedding before nightfall.

If John had called Nathan any later, Nathan would have probably been on his way to Sparta in Aaron’s car and unable to make it in time for their wedding.

If I had used a different second shooter who needed to have equipment supplied, I couldn’t not have spared a camera for Nathan to use.

If Nathan had ridden over to Crossville with me on Friday (which we had discussed as a possibility), he would have had no car in which to drive back to Knoxville.

As you can see, everything aligned just perfectly. It was meant to be. And without further ado, here are a few of Nathan’s favorite shots from John & Megan’s wedding!
