I just spent an hour on the phone with AT&T trying to figure out why my DSL bill was four times what I was expecting. Turns out they had signed me up for the wrong plan. Oops. Of course, I’ve spent weeks on this between emails and phone calls before I found someone who could figure it out. I wonder if it was all just a test to see how serious I was about the whole thing. I knew if I didn’t clear it up this month, I would get an insane bill next month too, so may as well deal with it now.
The organization lady who spoke to eWomen today gave us a great Mark Twain quote. “if you have to swallow a live, green toad, do it first thing in the morning.” Basically why put off until tomorrow what you can deal with today. If you put it off, you’re going to waste more time worrying about it and not enjoying your other activities than if you just do it.
At least the customer service people are nice. They don’t always know the right answers, but they’re very friendly and apologetic. I guess that’s all you can hope for. And sometimes you get a good one who really knows their stuff. Then you’re good to go!
