One more thank you

I’ve been oohing & ahhing over our cast & crew for about 2 weeks now. Every time I watch Nathan cut together a scene, I admire Melinda’s awesome make up & Karrie’s invaluable contributions to our costume selection (Brent’s costume is PERFECT thanks to Karrie). I see the way things just went together so smoothly thanks to Travis, Adam & Dusty and how well Brent & Alex did bringing our characters to life. Of course, there are the awesome additions to our slate, thanks to Aaron & Larry (you have been immortalized) & Vincent. And don’t forget the awesome vomit & blood pump job by Scott. We have a few snippets between takes where you can hear suggestions and all of the important things that really made this project come together. But there’s one person I haven’t officially thanked, and he’s the reason we even did this.

So, Thank You Nathan! I mean, I hate zombies. Really! Why would I have ever thought to make a zombi film? But it was so much fun, I can’t wait to make the next one. Brent & Alex did a fantastic job, and I can’t wait to work with them again, but if Nathan hadn’t described to them how we had envisioned the scene, how would they have known what we wanted? Actors need direction, and Nathan provided it. He got out there and demonstrated the proper way to rise from the dead and sneak up and bite people. Nathan planned out every scene and every shot. Yeah, I typed it into excel like a good little OCD accountant’s daughter, but I wouldn’t have know what to type without him. He was nice the entire time, despite not getting enough sleep or food. He was focused and professional. I really enjoyed watching him work (and not just because he’s my super hottie hubby).

Now that the shoot is over and everyone has gone back to their regularly scheduled lives, the work has only intensified for Nathan. He’s in his not quite finished basement office (which is sometimes cold! What an improvement over always boiling) just plugging away. Every shot was planned out, but that doesn’t mean the puzzle pieces just come together. Nope. You have to finesse them. Shave a clip by one frame and it goes from awkward to perfect. It’s like magic.

He told me he didn’t need any thanks, but everyone needs to know they’re appreciated. So Nate, that’s for being the impetus for the best, most fun, sleep deprived and hilarious weekend ever! I love you!
