Alfred on the road

With a fancy new haircut. Nate loves the short hair. I love the shaggy look.

Small World

We went to the inauguration & my friend Sara sat next to a lady from Gainesville, GA. Her friend one seat back KNEW MY MOM!! Seriously! She knew my mom well enough to know my name. Of all the ridiculously packed trains in ridiculously packed DC.

Alfred gets a haircut

This was the first time we gave Alfred a haircut ourselves. Notice that we had to get his Aunt Sara in on the action. As long as Sara was holding him, he didn’t seem to care what we did with the scissors. We’ve since invested in a fancy shaver. We use that for his back and sides and after the shaver, he’s so glad we’re just using scissors on his legs.

View of the Tennessee

The Tennessee River is so pretty! I went for a walk with Alfred & just sat and knitted for a while along the banks.

Alfred pranced around having a great time.

HPUD fixed it

HPUD (the water company) had to come out and fix a leaking water line on our street. They dug up our front yard and this is how they left it. The HPUD lady I spoke with thought it was odd I would be put out about the muddy pile of mess. They came out, smoothed it out and spread grass seed (I didn’t care so much about the grass. My plan is to kill it and replace it with thyme and chamomile anyway).

Car puppy

Alfred loves to ride in the car. He gets so excited whenever we put on shoes, pants, a jacket or grab your keys. He’ll run outside & circle the car until you let him in. Recently, he escaped as I was unloading groceries and hopped right into the front seat. I couldn’t get him out until I went to get his leash. He especially loves going to the bank. They always give him treats (except our first trip, they saw his hair poking up and thought he was a kid. He requested we return the sucker for a treat).

Berry Crepes!

On our first trip to Chicago, we had breakfast at this little cafe down the block from our friends. I love that you can walk to little cafes in Chicago! Anyway, these were the AMAZING berry crepes I ate (and hurt myself with my inability to not finish them).
