Did you know?

Now we do print on site! You and your guests can taken home 4×6 prints the night of your event! Not only that, but we set up a Photobooth style shoot where your guests can gather together in singles, couples or groups and have their pictures taken while everyone watches on the big screen as new photos pop up while we shoot! We can even present candids we’ve taken during the party. Then everyone gets a fun favor to take home with them.

The 4×6 prints aren’t inkjet, so they’re water (and liquor) proof.

I have a couple of options.

1. You choose how many shots you want to pay for and hand out print tokens to your guests. If they want more prints than their token count allows, they can pay with cash or credit card.

2. You leave it open ended. However many prints your guests want, that’s how many they can have. You’ll get a bill at the end for the number of prints we made.

A new focus

I’ve been a bad blogger this year. Bad bad bad. It’s been a crazy first quarter with work and travel and now spring is on us. So with rebirth in mind, I’ve decided to take this blog on a slight left turn. There will still be loads of photographs and travelogues, but as Nathan and I were preparing our garden for planting, I realized my true blogging interest is this sustainable living in a traditional neighborhood experiment that is our house. So I’ll be posting information on our garden and our renovations as we try to be as earth friendly as possible while still running a home-based business in a house we’re renovating ourselves.

Sitting in Abu Dhabi

We’re waiting for the big flight (14 hours) to Chicago. We had breakfast and are ready to go. Of course, we have 2.5 hours in Chicago to:

1. disembark with all of our goodies

2. gather our checked luggage

3. go through customs

4. get our boarding passes for Knoxville

5. get on the plane

We had about 2-2.5 hours last time and it was okay, but not if customs is a pain. Our taxi to the airport charged us Rs. 1000 for a Rs. 250 ride by his meter. Evil little man. I’m sure he’ll be coming back as something small and disgusting. All in all, the trip hasn’t been bad so far (she says before the 14 hour flight). The Mumbai airport is much nicer than the Chennai airport. They had toilets AND paper. Pretty darn exciting. They also had swarms of mosquitos getting their last bites. Even the airplane was swarming with them. I don’t think we got too devoured. We covered up with the blanket and passed out. It’s kind of surreal to be heading home. Glad the airport here has wifi.

I know my birthday isn’t until December, but if you feel like getting me a welcome home gift, here are a few suggestions.

Please pass the margaritas

Soccer Taco (classic, not Mkt Square) is a staple of my birthday celebration. This is not a picture from my birthday, though. This is just us enjoying some afternoon refreshment.

Best Pizza in Knoxville

Elidio’s is 5 minutes away from my house. They do not deliver. They close at 8:30, but you’d better get there by 8 or b/c sometimes they close early if it’s slow. You can get it hand tossed or hand tossed. The sauce & cheese are so good you don’t need toppings, but if you want them, they’re great! The pasta salad is delicious too.

Yes, I am in India

We’re meeting all kinds of AMAZING musicians here. Sivaramakrishna Rao and his brothers are some of them. They play together as PRANAVAM and live together in a beautiful and very musical house.

Sivaramakrishna and his lovely wife Aruna welcomed us into their home and hooked us up with connections to even more great local musicians. Our week in Chennai was full of amazing music and Aruna’s fabulous cooking and chai tea (best food and tea in all of Chennai).

As a way of thanking them, we did a portrait sitting with Sivaramakrishna and his sitar and the two of them together. It was super fun. Aruna was so beautiful in her sari and Sivaramakrishna played more sitar music for us while we photographed him. I think we were all grinning ear to ear for the entire shoot. Here are just a few of the hundreds of shots we did.
