Aidan’s 8 Month Portrait

Wow does time fly! You may remember Aidan from his newborn portrait and Susan’s maternity portrait, and Susan and John from their wedding. Aidan is 8 months old now and such a cutie! He can sit up, but hasn’t started crawling yet. That makes him the PERFECT baby subject since he’ll stay put and not wander off (although I love the wandering shots as well). We drove to Atlanta to photograph the family in their house, so the dogs got in on the action too! Ty is the younger pup and he just loves Aidan! Larry is the oldest and not so into the baby or Ty since he’s above such puppy-ish things. 😉

Susan’s sister gave Aidan this cute horse. We tried to get his picture with it at his newborn sitting but he was having none of it! He loves it now, though.

Busy busy

I realized I haven’t spent much time blogging non-photography stuff. Probably for the best, since this is supposed to be my photography blog, but where’s the fun? Sure, you all know I’m out & about taking pictures, but quick blogs with a few shots seems like cheating. So here’s a blog about photography & some other stuff.

About 23 hours ago, Nathan & I woke up to torrential rain & lots of lightning. We figured that certainly the triathlon we were shooting would be off (or postponed) since you can’t really put people in a lake during a lightning storm. NOPE! It was still on, so away we went. I have to tell you, there was a river down our street & the lightning was coming fast behind the thunder. I was still dubious as we dashed to the car. Luckily, it didn’t seem to hit the Tellico area so badly and after a few drizzles, we were all blue skies and white puffy clouds. Honestly, after the Cedar Bluff exit, it was pretty clear.

Scott & Elizabeth shot with Nathan & me. They also helped at the gala, so I knew we had a strong team. We had such a great time! I’m actually feeling a tad bit sleepy (shocking since I took a long nap this afternoon), so I will just let the pictures speak for themselves (I’ve put the photographer’s name in () under each shot). Check out PellucidCreations.com in about 2 weeks to see the final edit. Oh, you noticed the different website & watermark. Pellucid Creations is our new photography adventure. My lovely assistants are training to be associate photographers. They will shoot under the Pellucid name. You will see more of their work here and on the website. I <3 them!

Michelle’s Bridal Portrait

I shot Michelle’s bridal portrait at Dara’s Garden back at the end of April. Of course, her wedding wasn’t until June 20th, so I’ve had to sit on these for a while now. Michelle also entered our engagement story contest with a great story about her clever husband. I LOVED photographing her. She is fun & beautful and willing to go along with weird ideas to get great shots.

MMeeks_034

Michelle brought her friend and some champagne to keep her more relaxed. What a fabulous plan! It worked perfectly.

MMeeks_027

She also helped Michelle get ready.

We started in the red gazebo. I love the red gazebo!

Then we hiked over to the barn. My white sheet got lots of use that day and no one got into any poison ivy (always my big fear).

They recently built a new, outdoor ceremony area. It is fantastically beautiful! We’re shooting a wedding there next weekend, and I can’t wait to see it all decked out!

Nina & Eric

Absolute sweetest, most tear-jerking, joyful wedding ever.  It was amazing to see Nina & Eric together.  They had a Greek band, Nina’s mother sang a super sweet song to the couple, their friends jammed in a drum circle, it was really wonderful.  Nina told me afterwards that it was like having a dear friend photograph their wedding, and I agree.  I love this couple.  I’m so glad I’m a wedding photographer so I can meet wonderful people like them (and honestly, I’ve been very lucky with all of my brides and grooms.  I’m an awesome couple magnet!)  Anyway, before I tear up thinking about it, here are a few details about their wedding.  The ceremony and reception were at the Mary Gay House.  You may recognize the house from Mel & Ann’s wedding.  It’s fun to see a venue in various seasons, and I have to say, Mary Gay is always pretty.  Belle Designz did the flowers and Avalon catered.  If you noticed that little picture in the middle of Nina’s bouquet, that is a picture of her father who isn’t with us anymore.  Nina had always wanted him to walk her down the aisle, so they came up with a creative solution.  There was a little snafu with the cake.  The bottom layer was damaged during delivery, so it was not set out with the rest of the cake (it was still delicious, just not pretty).  Nina did not let that ruin her day.  She made a joke about their tiny cake, and kept on laughing.  I hope she’s still laughing at life’s little snafus (I’m sure she is!)  Here are a few of my favorite pics (I really may tear up)  🙂

They didn’t think anyone was looking.

Ashleigh & Randy

Ashleigh & Randy got married today way back in 2005.  They had a very small ceremony that included family only, and then opened the reception up to all of their friends.  Ashleigh is just too sweet, and Randy’s daughter, who was a total ham, seemed pleased to get such a great step-mom.  Their ceremony was on the back patio at Windermere Golf Club and they moved inside for the reception. You may recognize them at the top and the bottom left pictures on the Windermere site, also the picture of the club house is from their wedding.  They had candles in the bags lining the walk way.  It was very pretty at night.  Happy fourth anniversary, guys!

Trisha & Daniel’s Wedding

So I realized I blogged about Trisha & Daniel’s awesome NOLA wedding, but I didn’t actually blog ABOUT Trisha & Daniel’s wedding. What kind of nut am I?! It was gorgeous and fun and generally fantastic. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

My family portrait

Photographers rarely get portraits of themselves. Luckily, we’re usually friends with other photographers who can help us out. Claudine (who shot our wedding and second and associate shoots for me because she’s awesome) somehow got drafted (volunteered because she’s a bit nutty, like me) to help out with a family portrait. My dad wanted pictures of my brother, Nathan & me with my grandmother, Maw Maw who will be 91 this summer. We are an impossible bunch, and it’s a great tribute to Claudine that she didn’t bop us all over the head with her camera. I also set up the tripod and did some timer shots. Let’s see if you can tell which is which.

Susan Weiler’s Maternity Portrait

I just realized I never posted any of Susan’s maternity portraits. I think I shot it before I really got to blogging. Since I keep referencing it, I thought it would be a great idea to blog it, yes? Susan & John were wedding clients of mine. They are an awesome couple and I was so excited that they called me when they decided they wanted maternity portraits. Susan is just so beautiful too. We did the session at Susan’s mom’s house. They have a beautiful pond and we used the rocking chair that Susan’s mom used when Susan was a baby.

Baby Naming

Back in December, I photographed a baby naming party. I wasn’t permitted to photograph the actual ceremony, as is the standard with a lot of religious ceremonies, but the party was great! A lot of the children from the Knoxville Jewish Day School were there, and they were, as usual, adorable! We did a lot of family portraits as well.

Jennifer & George

Jennifer & George had a Catholic/Jewish wedding.  It was great fun!  Today is their third anniversary.  Have a great one!

Yep, that’s a pink dress.  Jennifer’s mom made it.  She also wrote a book about her experience.

It was a beautiful dress!  Doesn’t hurt that Jennifer is a hottie.  🙂

Their Ketubah was beautiful.

For those who aren’t familiar with Jewish wedding traditions, the Ketubah is signed by the bride and groom before the wedding ceremony.  It is traditional for the bride and groom to see each other before the wedding.  Sometimes the groom will put the veil over the bride’s face as well.

A priest and a rabbi walk under a Chupah…

It’s time for a bit of relaxation before the reception.  Shoo!

I love the Horah!

The wedding was at Carlyle House in Norcross, GA.  They also catered.

Sonshine Florist was in charge of their flowers, which were beautiful!
