Association of bridal consultants

Our ABC chapter had their first meeting after our summer break. It was great to see everyone again. If course we see each other at different events, but it’s great to just sit back and relax with my wedding friends. The food was delish! Thanks Club LeConte!

White Table provided the linens which were beautiful as always. DW Lighting had their pretty “B” gobo on display as well. And the bartender made us “wedding planners” which are delicious and fruity.

My car is in the shop, and Kristie from the Bleak House gave me a ride home. It worked out well because it turns out she lives near me. Perhaps we can start walking at the park nearby.

So a big welcome back to all of my ABC buddies! I hope everyone had a great summer!

Abby & Justin

Abby & Justin got married in Elizabethton last year.  Their wedding was at their church, and the reception was in Abby’s mom’s backyard.  It was a gorgeous wedding, and my friend Laura Ullrich with Savvy Sophisticate coordinated.  The White Table provided the linens.  Today is their first anniversary.  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!  Here are a few pages from their album.

The picture on the right is from Abby’s bridal portrait session at The Bleak House.

I think I just wasted my entire day

trying to get us set up with AT&T DSL and wireless. I got the modem and router talking (by buying a new router, and also by resetting the modem to bridge mode which required a call). I activated our temporary phones. I looked and called around to find out about buying iphones vs ipod touches. I canceled our Comcast service. I did a few other things, but the majority of the day was spent getting the new services set up, everything but the number porting since I didn’t want to leave Nathan phoneless and on his own. Nathan wanted to hang out with Adam and Aaron, but I asked him to come home so we could go to the store, order our iphones, and get our temporary phones set up with the proper numbers. We set out to the AT&T store only to find that that one was closed. We stopped at Adam and Aaron’s, but they weren’t home, so I took the time to start the porting process. Only it turns out, you can’t have a 404 and an 865 number on the same family plan! WTF! I’ve been doing just that at Verizon for the past 2 years. It’s something about different markets, blah blah blah. Why didn’t this come up 2 weeks ago when I started this whole process?! Why is it now, at the very end, when all I have to do is get these 3 numbers ported and then wait for our iphones to come in? It’s just ridiculous. Nathan is annoyed because we didn’t wait at Adam and Aaron’s but instead went to the AT&T store (which I honestly didn’t insist we do. I just commented that I thought it would be easier to talk to a person. I’d already given up on getting to the store before closing.) Nathan thinks we should have just waited until the iphones came out because then we’d have them and everything would be dandy. Of course, that was before we found out about this “markets” bull. I’m so irritated. I have dealt with people on the phone all day. I’m so tired of it. I have so much other stuff to do this week, but instead of doing my office stuff today like my calendar says I’m supposed to, I spent it on the phone with customer service of one kind or another. It sucks. I’m not a person who actively dislikes change, but they make it so damn hard! I mean, these people are saying “we don’t want your money. DSL, 3 phone lines, and 2 iphones? Pshaw, that’s just chicken feed. We don’t need another silly customer taking up our time and bandwidth.” They actually refused to take cash for an iphone Adam tried to buy. It’s a crock. Where’s my damn cave? I’m ready to move in.

Just as an update:
Justin at the Knoxville Center Mall AT&T store saved the day! We put everything under the business name and life is good! He deserves the cell phone Nobel prize for figuring out the system.

Boy am I tired

So I’m working with this mom to get some pictures ready for her daughters’ pageant entries.  Who knew a pageant photo was so processed!  I’ve spent the entire day working on 4 pictures (well, 2 really, because 2 were “natural” which doesn’t require much of anything.  It’s those “glitz” pictures that’ll get ya!)  Here are the before and afters for the 2 year old.

I’m getting fancy

So I just figured out how to change my theme. Perhaps soon I will learn to customize. Until then, I hope you like the darker scheme. It is said that darker web pages use less energy to power the screen, and I love conserving energy. And now I must really conserve energy by turning off my computer since I didn’t pack my power cord. Oops!

Where to start

So this is my first real blog.  Sure I’ve posted things over on myspace and friendster, but this is the first blog-only blog.  I guess this is my third blog.  Hopefully I’ll catch on quickly.  Wish me luck!

There!
There are all of the pictures from the last few months that I haven’t shared! I’ll post a new link when I get the rest from the last 5 years up. Sorry I’m a slacker. The cobblers kids are barefoot and all of that!

And yes, this is just a copy of my bulletin, but I’m still slacking in some ways.

Apparently they didn’t expect anyone to check snopes, just to assume the writer wasn’t lying. Silly person with an itchy “caps lock” finger. Now hopefully my mom can show my aunt that she should check her sources. She really is a sweet woman.

Obama is NOT the Devil

Current mood:  annoyed

My Aunt sent this to my mom. It is totally bogus. It is ignorant and bigoted. Obama is NOT a RADICAL MUSLIM. The fact that words like MUSLIM and RADICAL are capitalized leads me to believe it was written by someone on the RADICAL RIGHT. Obama is a Christian, but that really shouldn’t matter. This is complete bunk and its prevalence makes me sad. What kind of country are we?

Oprah’s Man:

Who is Barack Obama?

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forwa rd this
to all your contacts…this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us
here in our own United States…better heed this and pray about it and
share it.

We checked this out on “snopes.com < snopes.com> “. It is factual. Check
for yourself.

Who is Barack Obama?
Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in
Honolulu, Hawaii, Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from
Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita,
Kansas .

Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years
old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then
married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6
years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM
school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick
to point out that, “He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended
Catholic school.”
(Angel note: remember when he was sworn in as a senator…
he used theh Koran…)

Obama’s political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama’s
introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was
temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon
after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son’s
education.

Lolo Soetoro, the husband of Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his
stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta .

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists
who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically
expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United
States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an
attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when
he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead
the Koran (Their equivalency to our Bible, but very different beliefs)

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the U.S. from the inside out,
what better way to start than at the highest level – through the President
of the United States , one of their own!!!!

Would you want this man leading our country?……

The answer: Yes, I would want this man to run our country. Here’s George W. Bush’s history from a site just as credible as snopes. com, wikipedia (caps added by me):
“There are a number of accounts of substance abuse and otherwise disorderly conduct by Bush from this time. Bush has admitted to DRINKING “too much” in those years and described this period of his life as his “nomadic” period of “irresponsible youth”. On September 4, 1976, at the age of 30, Bush was ARRESTED for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) near his family’s summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine. He pled GUILTY, was fined US$150, and had his driver’s license suspended in Maine until 1978. After obtaining an MBA from Harvard University, Bush entered the oil industry in Texas. In 1977, he was introduced by friends to Laura Welch, a schoolteacher and librarian. They married and settled in Midland, Texas. Bush left his family’s EPISCOPAL Church to join his wife’s United METHODIST Church.” Are we to believe that Bush left his Episcopal ways behind him just because he joined a Methodist church? Would you want this man leading our country? Oh, wait, he already does. Posted by Andrea on Thursday, January 17, 2008 – 12:19 AM    Claire

Oh no! Do you think he could be a RADICAL EPISCOPALIAN!?! Posted by Claire on Thursday, January 17, 2008 – 12:21 AM    Binkums

Yeah, I DO want this MAN to be our next president. I don’t think he could terrify me any more than our current asshole-in-chief. I remember when he was sworn in with the Koran. It all symbolic anyway, but I still thought it was a cool thing for him to do at the time. I wouldn’t blame him if he were to join a church just to help his political career (even though I doubt that that is what happened). Bottom line, I think your aunt us crazy and that the religion of a presidential candidate shouldn’t matter (as long as they’re not MORMON or something weird like that). Hell, I think that his muslim background could only help the US today. Posted by Binkums on Thursday, January 17, 2008 – 12:20 AM
